HomeRecent News: IN THE TOP TEN!!:Exciting news!! One of my entries ( Just You & Me ) in the National Songwriting competition made it to the provincial top 10!! Winner to be announced tomorrow morning ( Monday, Jan 18th ) January 18, 2010, 3:02:34 am UTC MOVING TO TUESDAY NIGHTS & JAN 23rd:Im moving to Tuesday nights at the Fat Cat. I start this week, Jan. 19th. The shows will still be solo acoustic, but I will be joined by special guests once a month & Im also planning to make a songwriters circle a regular part of the festivities ... Will have further details on all that very soon!! Also wanted to mention that the Soulution & I, will be taking part in Sing For A Cure, on Saturday, Jan 23rd @ the Ship Inn. Also on the bill are Chris Kirby, Chris Kearsey, Jerry Stamp & Bryan Oram. The show starts with a songwriters circle, then we ( The Soulution ) hit the stage for a full set of sweet, sweet, soulful-ness!! And then, we close out the night with the Monsta Jam ... Where we hit the stage in small platoons, to duke it out musically!! Its certainly shaping up to be a great show!! And of course, its also a chance to support a great cause!! Well be hitting the studio, in 3 weeks to start workin on my debut solo album ( Call My Name ). Also very excited to let you know youll be able to track the progress of this project, in real time, through this website ... Well be hitting the stage with some very special invited guests to celebrate the season & get ourselves geared up for the New Year!! This will be the last chance to catch the Soulution live, for a while, as we will be spending our time in the studio once the New Year rolls around!! December 15, 2009, 4:11:45 pm UTC DEMOS & NATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION:A few weeks ago I hit the studio with the Soulution, to cut full band demos of three of my tunes. And if that experience is any indication of whats waiting for me, when we hit the studio in January, I can pretty much guarantee I will be the happiest man on the planet!! Yes, thanks to the Soulution, they really do sound that good!! So good in fact, I then entered those three songs in the National Songwriting competetion ... Who knows, maybe Ill get an opportunity to take a break from songwriting to work on an acceptance speech!?! HA!! December 15, 2009, 4:07:51 pm UTC SOULUTION DEBUT, MUSIC NL SHOWCASE & NEW DEMOS:First off, BIG thanks to all of those who came out on Nov 10th, for the Soulution debut!! We had a great turnout, the show went off without a hitch & everyone seemed to really dig the new lineup ... Hard not to be happy about that!! Also happy to report our ( Soulution ) showcase at the Music NL conference went extremely well & we received a lot of very positive feedback!! As for the next step ... The Soulution & I are set to start some preliminary work on the new album this weekend ... Headin in to the studio to cut full band demos of some of the new material and I will likely be posting one or two of these tracks on my Myspace page, very soon ... So, Stay tuned!! July 21, 2009, 3:13:12 am UTC THE BRUISERS ROCK THE DELTA:This Friday night, July 17th, Billy & the Bruisers will blasting out their unique blend of Motown, R&B & Classic Rock at the Delta. And, I have some great news for all you old school Bruiser fans, as the boys will be joined by their original front man, Mark Murphy. This will be the first time the original line-up has shared the stage in over 5 years!! Im also very excited to announce the Bruisers will be joined by another very special guest singer ...... ME!! As many of you are aware, Im a Bruiser in training & will be singing with the band, starting this month. Not only will this be my first time onstage with the band, it will likely be the last public, in-town performance for a little while. So, you have to get yourself on down to the Delta, Friday night ( and, of course, show me some love!! ) I should also mention, this is a fundraiser for Habitat For Humanity!! Then, the real fun begins, as I will be joined by a posse of savage guitar players & incredible song writers!! The trio consists of myself, Bruce Cooper on Drums & Mike Fardy on Bass. Covering artists like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Colin James & Jacksoul, I would probably classify us as 'contemporary soul'. That said, we'll certainly be armed with our share of ferociously funky grooves as well.
